Rosalie Gascoigne

Rosalie Gascoigne artwork All that Jazz was created in 1989 and exhibited in November of the same year at the Rosalie Oxley9 gallery in Sydney. It is 131cm X 100cm and made out of sawn and split wooden soft drink cans that are laid flat and arranged on a piece of plywood, in a way that creates a pattern and jumbles up the words, this is consistent in structure with the modernist grid, however this was not done on purpose, the random mix of the cut up colours and text gives the artwork a unique feel. In her early work she used similar crates, as whole crates, to place items in as part of her artwork.
