Article Mashup

Barack Obama is revelling in presidential power and influence unseen in Washington for decades.
Madonna seems to have retained her status with some young style setters "The Devil Wears Prada" is a movie about a vain corporate boss who wears designer clothes. It is not the only popular medium that Prada has influenced. Madonna’s power to ignite a fashion trend with firm control and the ability to push through ambitious plans, retained her status with the style world. Obama already is assured a legacy at the top of all three branches of government -- executive, legislative and judicial. Poets, musicians and authors have used the fashion power house as a symbol of wealth and sophistication. Madonna's vixenish posturing can still sell unfettered authority. Prada has been in the forefront of the fashion trends power to force an overhaul. I cannot in my memory remember a world premier fashion label had more influence, in the same league. generate the kind of heat that once transmuted her every gesture to victory. a remarkable intervention the power to validate a popular medium A cocktail of sex. level of influence and power that is literally unprecedented stamp of approval, approval ratings, in the forefront personally popular the jury is out.

Lecture Slide

The image of this slide, rather than its concept or idea related well to a component of my design, that is the contrast between black and white. This slide shows a sucessful use of colour to highlight the images and contrast the black and white. I aim to do this in my UT environment using coloured lighting to contrast the black and white of the materials have used, I will be doing this to help highlight features, as is done in this slide and also to create similarities and differences with in and between the spaces as this related to Alfred Noble's quotes "One can state without exageration, that the observation of and the search for similarities and differences are the basis of all human knowledge." which I am using as the basis for my axonometric and design of one of the laboratories.

Developed UT Environment

The images above show my completed UT environment. The space behind the wall is designed for Keith Campbell, the tunnel, stairs, ramp and intersecting spaces have been used to represent his wanting to “know how everything works” and the sense of searching associated with this, there are also areas where there is a space to for the user to see what is underneath the floor and better understand how it works. The textures have been used to highlight these areas of flooring, also to draw attention to features such as the boxes that are designed to be intriguing and add intricateness to the space to create a sense of the intricate knowledge you need “to know how everything works”.

The meeting place has been simply designed to allow the two scientist to meet and let there relationship define the space, it does however have quite dramatic lighting and texturing to represent the intensity of ideas combining in the space.

The space hanging out from the ramp is designed for Alfred Noble, different sized and shaped spaces and lighting have been used to create similarities and differences, which Noble believed “are the basis of all human knowledge”. The ramp is long and thin to contrast the tall enclosed space of the laboratory, bright colored lighting has also been used to contrast the black and white of the materials.

Components of Developed Environment

The four textures above are the textures featured in my developed environment, there are 2 dark textures, one light and one medium, they have been used to highlight features of the environment.

The parrallel projections above show my original deisgn for joining the 2 axonometrics, however after thinking more about the design i decided to rotate Alfred Nobles laboratory as it connected better with the meeting space and Keith Campbell's laboratory.

The Axonometric above is the basis for Alfred Nobles laboratory which is hanging attached to the ramp.

The Axonometric above is the basis for Keith Campbells laboratory, which is set into the wall.

Textures

These 36 tectures show the relationship between light and dark and the transition between the two, I have tried to use a more dynamic and organic style than I normally use when I draw to train myself to be less controlled and more free to design.

UT Axonometrics

Alfred Noble’s quote says that “similarities and differences are the basis of all human knowledge”, this axonometric tries to show this through the differences and similarities in the spaces, they are all different height, widths and lengths, but they all have similar lighting, some of them have different methods of entry, some have the same. The canter levered stairs are used to join many areas as they are made up of many pieces and represent the idea that there is so much human knowledge.

Keith Campbell’s quote “I just want to know how everything works” suggests a sense of searching, so for this axonometric there are lots of intersecting shapes with separate rooms in them, they are connected by long stair ways or ramps so there is a sense of anticipation and searching in traveling from one room to another. There are also a number of intriguing, intricate features such as the light boxes to create a sense of the details and intricate knowledge you need to “know how everything works”.
